Service

The Zonta Club of Adelaide Service Committee is a standing committee of Zonta International. Its role is to promote the service aspect of the Zonta International’s vision through advocacy and hands-on work to enhance the lives of women and girls in our local community.

Breast Cushions

Zonta Breast Care cushions provide comfort to those in the post-operative phase of breast surgery. Throughout the year clubs across Australia sew and pack these sought after cushions.

Distribution in hospitals is by Breast Care Nurses. The Zonta Club of Adelaide has made 9,000 breast care cushions over the years and donated them to St. Andrews Hospital.

We regularly receive feedback from patients telling us how supported they have felt.

Breast surgery brought me face to face with my own mortality. It consumed my confidence and left in its stead an overwhelming sense of fragility.

For me, the sight of a breast cushion propped waiting on a hospital bed created an immediate surge of gratitude and a realisation that the women who had sent me such a gift were also sending me quietly comforting support.

Birthing Kits

Clean Birthing Kits are assembled with school students from Adelaide High School, Seymour College, Emmanuel College and Adelaide University Senior College and at the request of business organisations who wish to be involved. These kits are distributed to developing countries to positively impact the lives of mothers and babies.

Volunteering at the Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service

Volunteers from the Zonta Club of Adelaide lend their energy and skills to complete valuable tasks at the Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service. We commit to providing enough volunteers to cover two half days of service every week as well as on special occasions.
